Principal Research Data Scientist, Google · New York, NY
I'm a Principal Research Data Scientist @ Google, within Google Threat Intelligence Group, where I develop AI/ML methods and build AI systems for cyber threat intelligence, information operations detection, and adversarial analysis of AI. My work sits at the intersection of computational social science, AI research, and cyber threat intelligence.
At Google I've led the design of the organization's first agentic systems for complex cyber threat intelligence, moving from semi-manual workflows through RAG systems to autonomous AI agents. I was involved in the architecting of the first agentic systems for threat intelligence, enabling autonomous agents to interact with cyber threat data at scale. My automated narrative tracking technology for information operations campaigns was directly cited in U.S. DOJ enforcement actions against foreign influence operations. I also designed the organization's first comprehensive evaluation framework for agentic systems in cyber threat intelligence, replacing subjective manual assessments with auto-rater methodologies and automated regression testing.
In and out of Google, I've developed novel methods for automated analysis across IO campaigns, hacktivist activity, threat actor profiling, propaganda asset tracking, and emerging narrative detection during major geopolitical events including the U.S. Presidential Elections, various European elections, major geopolitical conflicts like the Israel-Hamas conflict, and COVID.
Previously I was a Research Scientist and Director of Applied Science at Graphika, where I led machine learning research on information operations, disinformation, and computational social science. I hold an M.S. from Georgia Tech and a B.A. from The New School. I've also taught machine learning, data science, research methods, and quant methods.
In my spare time, I run Salt Data Labs, a consulting practice delivering AI/ML solutions and trainings. I'm also workshopping a book about mangoes.
